NEIU in the Media

Wisconsin Public Radio, Chicago Sun-Times, WTTW's Chicago Tonight, Pantagraph.com, and Stars and Stripes
Edward Stuart, professor, economics and international/intercultural studies, has appeared in the following print and broadcast news stories to discuss the economy and unemployment: February 9 on Wisconsin Public Radio, the April 11 issue of the Chicago Sun-Times, April 15 on WTTW's Chicago Tonight, an Associated Press story that was published April 18 on Pantagraph.com, and the April 19 issue of Stars and Stripes, a newspaper based in Tokyo.

Wisconsin Public Radio
Jim Blair, instructor, communications, media and theatre, and Steve Brown, professor, educational leadership and development, hosted a program titled "Education Matters" on March 7 on Wisconsin Public Radio. They discussed school reform, race in America and how the Obama administration might impact the education of African-American youth.

Chicago Jewish News
Sara Samuels, principal dancer, Ensemble Espanol, was featured in a story published in the March 13 issue of Chicago Jewish News.

Kenosha News
Carla Knorowski, vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of the NEIU Foundation, was featured in a story and photograph published in the March 13 issue of the Kenosha News. The story reported on Knorowski's visit to Paris, Wis., her first stop on a tour that will include every town or city in the world named Paris and culminate in Paris, France.

Chicago Tribune
Dan Milsky, assistant professor, philosophy, was quoted in a story about the irony of the NEIU Ethics Bowl Team placing fifth in a national competition. The story was published in the March 17 issue of the Chicago Tribune.

UIC Alumni Magazine and Momentum
Brian Schultz, associate professor, educational leadership and development, was featured in the March/April 2009 issue of the UIC Alumni Magazine and the 2009 issue of Momentum, the UIC College of Education magazine. Both articles reported on Schultz's experience teaching fifth graders at a Cabrini Green school, which he recently published in his book Spectacular Things Happen Along the Way.

Chicago Sun-Times, WMAQ-TV and WLS-AM
Rose Guccione, student, music, was featured in the April 7 issue of the Chicago Sun-Times, on WMAQ-TV NBC morning news on April 9, and on WLS-AM 790 on April 11. Guccione, who sings professionally in the Chicago area, has created a business called OperaGram, for which she delivers personalized songs for special occasions.

Cafe
Erin Claudio, instructor, health, physical education, recreation, and athletics, was featured in a story and photograph published in the April issue of Cafe magazine. The story reported on how Claudio has made a business by filtering waste vegetable oil that can be used to power a biodiesel engine.
