A partnership between Northeastern Illinois University and Chicago Public Radio has resulted in two opportunities for the University to connect with the neighboring community. Later this month, the University will host Chicago Public Radio's annual Global Activism Expo and also will share its first contribution to the radio station's audio archive, Chicago Amplified.
Global Activism Expo 2009
NEIU's Peace Connection group has worked with WBEZ to bring the Global Activism Expo 2009 to campus on Saturday, April 25 from noon to 6 p.m. in the Physical Education Complex. More than 100 Chicago-area activists who have been featured guests of Worldview's Global Activism Series will participate in this celebration. The expo will bring hundreds of people from the Chicago area to campus for a day of food, musical performances, and presentations by various organizations.
Chicago Amplified
NEIU also has partnered with Chicago Public Radio through the station's Chicago Amplified program. This partnership will provide the University an opportunity to share audio recordings of events on campus with a broader audience outside of the University community.
Chicago Amplified is a web-based audio archive of educational events throughout the Chicago region. Selected events will air on WBEZ 91.5 FM. Events that will be featured include colloquia, symposia and speakers who come to campus.
NEIU's first event to be included in the archive will be a lecture on campus by Chicano civil rights activist Dolores Huerta on April 23.
If you have an event that you would like to be considered for inclusion, please contact Dana Navarro at d-navarro@neiu.edu or ext. 4227.
