NEIU's Ensemble Espanol Honored by Mayor Daley

Dame Libby Komaiko, professor, dance, and the Ensemble Espanol Spanish Dance Theater, in residence at NEIU, recently were chosen as one of five organizations to be honored for its participation in the "Principal for a Day" program with an Outstanding School Partnership Award.
The Ensemble was chosen for its partnership at Kilmer Elementary School. For the past 15 years, the dancers have performed at the school, held free after-school dance classes, awarded scholarships for students to study dance, and given free tickets to students, parents and staff to attend off-site performances.
President Sharon Hahs also participated in the "Principal for a Day" program by serving as principal of William Howard Taft High School.
