Steven Brown, professor, educational leadership and development, was recently named president of the board of directors for the LGBT Center for Southeastern Wisconsin.
Netiva Caftori, professor, computer science, had her artwork on display in an exhibition on display in the Ronald Williams Library in February. The exhibition featured the work of 10 Israeli artists in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Israel.
Inna Faliks, instructor, music, performed three local piano recitals during the last month. Her playing also is featured on the Streaming Museum, a mixed-media online exhibition that includes performing arts of different genres, including ballet, hip-hop, and classical music.
Laura Fine, instructor, political science, graduated from the Illinois Women's Institute of Leadership in December. She was one of 12 women across the state selected for the program, which trains women to become effective leaders in Illinois politics.
Research by Masami Takahashi, associate professor, psychology, was cited in a new book titled "How to Live: A Search for Wisdom from Old People (While They are Still on Earth)" by Henry Alford. He also is the principal investigator for a project titled "Long-term Effects of Unjust War" and gave two presentations in November at the 61st Annual Meeting of the Gerontological Society of American in National Harbor, Md.: "Fanatic Patriotism and Resiliency: Multi-facets of Spirituality" and "Wise and Spiritual?: Concepts Versus a Case Study of WWII Suicide Bombers."
